My Ship Came In
One saying I've used in the past when I've missed out on something is, "my ship came in and I wasn't at the dock."
There is another couple in the RV Park where we stay for the winter that had a 1970 Volkswagen Beetle. They left it in indoor storage in the summer and drove it only the several months they were here for the winters. They purchased the car six years ago from the now deceased owner of the park, one of a number of collector cars he owned and kept in storage for years.
For health reasons they are moving to Wickenburg and decided to sell the car. A couple of days ago they parked it in front of the park with a for sale sign on it. As luck would have it I noticed it on my morning walk and immediately contacted them and said I would take the car.
Having owned Beetles in the past I knew the price they were asking was much lower than market value. To top it off, this is an Arizona car with absolutely no rust. There are spots on Beetles that were prone to rust, but his car has none. It is now parked in the shade along side our fifth wheel waiting to be taken home to Nebraska and cared for.
This time I was at the dock when my ship came in.
