O Canada!

TORONTO (AP) — Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Liberal Party has won the federal election, capping a stunning turnaround in fortunes fueled by U.S. President Donald Trump’s annexation threats and trade war.

In a victory speech, Carney stressed the importance of unity in the face of Washington’s threats. He also said the mutually beneficial system Canada and the U.S. had shared since World War II had ended.

“We are over the shock of the American betrayal, but we should never forget the lessons,” he said.

Even with Canadians grappling with the fallout from a deadly weekend attack at a Vancouver street festival, Trump was trolling them on election day, suggesting again on social media that Canada should become the 51st state and saying he was on their ballot. He also erroneously claimed that the U.S. subsidizes Canada, writing, “It makes no sense unless Canada is a State!”

While campaigning, Carney vowed that every dollar the government collects from counter-tariffs on U.S. goods will go toward Canadian workers who are adversely affected by the trade war. He also said he plans to keep dental care in place, offer a middle-class tax cut, return immigration to sustainable levels and increase funding to Canada’s public broadcaster, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

Abandoning Ukraine

Russia pounded Kyiv with an hourslong barrage of missiles and drones Thursday, killing at least 12 people in its deadliest assault on the Ukrainian capital since July.

The strikes that began around 1 a.m. hit at least five neighborhoods and heavily damaged multiple residential buildings.  Around 90 people were wounded.

Since Russia’s February 2022 full-scale invasion of its neighbor, Russian attacks have killed some 13,000 civilians, including 618 children.

Convicted felon Trump on Wednesday lashed out at Ukraine’s president, saying Volodymyr Zelenskyy is prolonging the “killing field” after pushing back on ceding Crimea to Russia as part of a potential peace plan.

Moscow’s illegal annexation of Crimea on March 18, 2014, was only recognized internationally by countries such as North Korea and Sudan.

Zelenskyy on Tuesday ruled out ceding territory to Russia in any deal.  “There is nothing to talk about. It is our land, the land of the Ukrainian people,” Zelenskyy said.

Putin outlined Russia's terms for a ceasefire and negotiations in June 2024. He said that Russia must be allowed to keep all the land it occupies, and be handed all of the provinces that it claims but does not fully control. He also said that Ukraine must officially end its plans to join NATO.  (source: AP)

Since the convicted felon Trump administration of rogues, convicts and imbeciles America has abandoned Ukraine, even taking sides with Putin.

America is no longer the leader of the free world.  Ukraine was an independent nation invaded by Russia.  Ukraine should NOT give up territory to end the war.  Ukraine should NOT be prohibited from joining NATO.  Shame on America for abandoning Ukraine.

While the average American has their money tied up in 401K's or IRA's just trying to get by and save for retirement, convicted felon Trump has been whipsawing back and forth on tariffs causing havoc on Wall Street.  And the beneficiaries of all of this has been the oligarchs in the administration and the wealthy, all the while Wall Street fawns over convicted felon Trump instead of denouncing this likely illegal manipulation of the markets just like they did in the 2008 financial crisis where the big banks and Wall Street traders screwed the rest of us.

Shortly before convicted felon Trump put his moronic tariffs on 90 day suspension he posted to buy stocks, likely knowing he would suspend the tariffs later.  He also likely "hinted" to his oligarch buddies in the administration what he was going to do so they could insider trade stocks while the rest of us were clueless what his next move was.  

He later bragged how much money his buddies made with his stock market manipulation.  It isn't over yet as this shifty con man manipulates the market to make the wealthy wealthier and the rest of us holding the bag.
