When I was a kid my Aunt Lillian would show up for an annual visit. The first thing she did was to hug me (and my two brothers) and plant a big red lipstick kiss on my face. I liked Aunt Lillian. Just not the sloppy kiss.
Nowadays hugging is common. Whenever we haven’t seen someone in a while out come the hugs. Even when we are introduced to others I half expect to be hugged. Even guys are into the hugging. Not me. I’m not sure why a handshake doesn’t suffice over a hug.
Joe Biden is under fire for being that way. Even those who have started popping up to accuse Joe of being overly affectionate say that there was nothing sexual about it. They just didn’t like being touched. I have to agree.
However, what really irks me is the fact that America has effectively ratified assaulting women when they elected not-my-president trump. No less than 23 women accused trump of sexual misconduct or outright sexual assault. Two women made the case that trump was involved in illicit sexual affairs with them. He was even recorded as saying he grabbed women sexually.
Sure Joe was too feely-touchy, but I think he gets it now. And so long as we have a serial assaulter as president, I’m willing to cut Joe a little slack.
Just one day more…
